I always have a good working list of topics I want to discuss on The Bipolar Writer blog. Often some of my blog posts are random thoughts that pop into my head about my journey with mental journey. I thought why not try something new in the middle of August?
Are there any topics you want to see me discuss on The Bipolar Writer?
If so let me know. I am happy to write about anything related to mental illness. I have two really good things— experience and opinions about mental health topics. Drop me comment or two about what you want to see here on The Bipolar Writer blog. It can be anything I can connect with my experiences with a mental illness or even off the wall topics you want my opinion on.

Maybe more about anxiety, things that help relieve it and stuff?

Okay I can definitely write a good post about that. I have learned a lot on my journey that has and hasn’t worked. Thanks you for the suggestion.

Of course, and thank you!

My granddaughter has OCD. She got sick when she was only 4 years old. She is now 20 and has found it impossible to stay at a job or be around too many people. Her biggest fear is the wind and people.

Those are interesting fears. I have experience in how a mental illness can effect getting a job. I can write a post about that if you like.

I hate the wind too. Always have … very unsettling to a huge degree. I thought I was the only one.

Her father had the same problem, although he wasn’t as sick as she has been.

Oh, I forgot to ask you to write about OCD. Lol

I can do that too but I don’t have too much experience about that, but I can research with the best of them.

How do you help someone who has been suicidal a long time ago but now won’t talk about anything?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Are you asking me to write a topic? The worst thing in that situation is to give up on that person. It’s hard because that person might have already given up and you have to get them to seek help. That is the most important thing that you can do.

I don’t know where the person is at with respect to suicide. They’re not talking about it. But they did bring it up recently….that in the past they had thought of it. How do I engage them to talk some more to me about it. Can I be bold and ask them directly about suicide? Or should I be more subtle. Or should I just wait and be there is they need to talk? I would be really interested in a blog post about this and how to encourage someone to talk to you…maybe specifically about suicide.

When it comes to suicidal person it’s tough. I would be direct because being subtle might be too little. You have to know how bad it is right now. I believe that I wrote something recently that might be of help. It was about suicidal thoughts.

I just read your blog. Thank you very much. I reblogged it too.

How about an introductory definition with examples to what bipolar is in the first place, for those who have no fucking clue or think it is the same thing as mood swings.
LikeLiked by 3 people
I can do that. That is actually a very good idea.

Yeah. I actually just know the psychiatrist’s dictionary definition: depression and then mania.
But I would love to hear about the details.
I know that sounds horrible.
As a side note, I don’t know how you can bring yourself to validate your suffering by sharing its information with others.
But I guess to each his own.

I am not trying to validate my suffering. I am working to share my experience in hopes it helps others. I really don’t mind sharing my suffering because it’s been something I have lived through. I guess you have live through it to understand.

I’d like to read more about cognitive behavioral therapy and managing mood, both mania and depression.

That’s a good idea. CBT is a good topic. I may have to break down into a few posts.

It’s a pretty complex subject, that would be a good idea.

I’d love to hear about the differences between bipolar and other ‘versions’ of depression and how they manifest themselves.

Gah! I wish I could remember the name of this book… it details the spectrum of unipolar depression to BP II. I know I’ve got notes from it *somewhere*!

Let me know if you remember! Sounds good …

Aha! I went to the page for the library I borrowed it from – they only had a small selection available. https://www.amazon.com/Depressed-Recognizing-Managing-Bipolar-Disorder/dp/0071462376

Hi I would like to read even just a simple explanation about the thin line between sadness and depression, if there’s any. Thank you. 🙂

Okay I can do that.

Do you find that medications are improving? Meaning, just as anti-depressants have improved – they work better at maintaining a feeling of normalcy – are bi-polar medications better at achieving a feeling of normalcy? What are your thoughts and experiences?~kim

This would be a great topic to write about. Thank you.

Everyone handles fear & anxiety differently. You’ve written about ways to cope with anxiety & some very good tips too. How about addressing fear-terror-extreme social fear? I know how I cope & what works for me but what works for you?

That’s a good idea for a topic. Thank you for sharing.

Depression is something I’d like to see you write about. I was diagnosed a couple months back. I also have anxiety… I mean those are labels that dont define me but it’s what I carry until I get better. Maybe seeing that would make me feel a little more… what’s the word? Ugh, I lost it. But hopefully you understand what I mean.

I can certainly write about depression. I have a long history of it in my life. I have this great chapter in my memoir about depression cycles that you might be interested in.

I’d love to see it! Dealing with depression is drought especially when there is either someone who doesn’t understand or doesn’t want to acknowledge that you have it. I find it quite comforting knowing that I’m not alone and there are steps to take. Even if it’s little.

I know the feeling. I will work on something this week. Stay tuned.

Id love to hear about how you handle the rollercoaster of feelings, I have days where I can handle my mental health and days where its so painful. The tools you use to handle the down days and up days would be interesting, In particular the ways you handle the loneliness.

I have written about this before but it’s something that I know well. I can create something with more recent thoughts.

That would be a very good topic to write about, I am more of a loner type as I am an introvert but sometimes I feel as if I isolate myself too much. This would be a good topic to dive into, thank you.

I’m always up to read (or write) about the bipolar/creativity connection, but that might just be a pet interest of mine lol. I’m always interested to read about famous people with bipolar (or suspected bipolar for those born long ago) too, again, especially creative types.

I have written about this topic in the past but it is something that I can go back to again. It’s an interesting topic because some of my favorite writers struggled with Bipolar Disorder or some type of mental illness.

I’m kind of new to your blog, and not sure if there’s already a post about this, but maybe you could write about suicide and suicide attempts (I have tried previously myself) and sort of how to move on from the event, how others around you can help etc

I have but talking about suicide is something that needs a constant conversation. I will repost my chapter in my memoir about suicide.
