A Bipolar Writer Poll

I wanted to find out something. I have been advertising since March about my Patreon account and I even did a $2 Patreon challenge. It has been brought to my attention recently that Patreon is a very hard website to understand. So I wanted to do a poll and what my followers think. Feel free to leave comments if you have no idea how it works so I can better explain. I would love for any of the followers of this blog to be a part of my writing projects.

I would love you hear from each and every one of my follower’s questions about what is Patreon and why I am pushing so much for it to be the next step not only for this blog but for my future writing on mental health.

I know some people can’t afford to become a Patreon but it was brought to my attention that many people don’t understand what Patreon is, and that is what is prompting this post!

  1. You’re doing great work. Do you not make any money off your blog, like from ads? Is that an option for you? I follow you to better understand people in my family.

    1. It is hard to make money from ads on this blog and I have tried. I have had this blog for a year and a half and have made 67.00 from ads (which they only give to you when you make $100). Patreon is different and it will allow me to do active things outside the blog. A podcast. A book sharing the stories of others (which is my next passion project.) That is why I started it, not to make millions off people, but to better connect my writing to my followers.

      1. Huh. Well, that’s a bummer that you only made that much. Could you maybe try a different type of blog where you have more ads? Not that I want you to go.

      2. Maybe just consider this a hobby and find another way to make money? I honestly don’t know. I need to make money from home somehow, too.

      3. I am close to self-publishing my memoir so that is going to be where I go from right now. I’d like to start an amazing thing, something along the lines of Humans of New York but for mental health.

      4. Sounds great. And have you considered addressing the political side of mental health care? Like the difficulty of getting good care ?

      5. I have. I am actually talking to a grant writer about getting education out there, and I would love to discuss mental health with a politician. I think it is one of the important things that I can do.

      6. That’s great. I’m appalled at the quality and oversight of mental health centers where people are sent when they admit to suicidal thoughts. Even worse is that so many people need help and can’t afford it.
